1% a day

Did you know that 15 minutes is 1% of a day?  I read somewhere that spending 1% a day on yourself is the best way to be happy and be a fabulous Mummy.  And it doesn’t have to be an expensive exercise.

Some of the things I do:

Have a 15 minute shower! Read a book before bed Watch TV (OK, so it’s only half a show, but it’s something!) Do some cross stich, scrapbook, or another craft activity Work on ...

Child discipline law in NZ

I was horrified to hear about the law that has been passed in New Zealand making it illegal to smack children.  You can read more on the NineMSN website and on ABC News.

Now, I’m not for or against smackng.  I have smacked my children, and I’m sure most parents have.  Often it is in frustration after I have tried EVERYTHING else.  Then again, I also smacked my 1 year olds hands away from a ...

School holidays

There are 13 more sleeps until school goes back.

My school boy keeps reminding me that I’m a Bad Mummy for not letting him go to school… he’s desperate to go back and is not impressed that it’s the holidays!  And that I won’t let him eat constantly… And that I don’t have the phone numbers for his best friends parents so they can come over to play (the numbers I have aren’t the right friends…).  ...

Mummy Myths

I am hearing a lot of what I call "Mummy Myths".  These are a bit like Urban Myths, but much worse, because with a bit of research, you can get to the truth…

One of the latest I’ve heard is that cloth nappies are not good in Australia, because they use too much water!!!  I’m sure this is not the case - keep tuned & I’ll check it out :)

I would ...

Why am I a Bad Mummy today?

Simple, because I use disposable nappies, so my kids weren’t toilet trained by 2 years old…

From everything I’ve read, it seems that kids are ready to be toilet trained between 2 and 4 and there is no right or wrong time, and using disposable or cloth nappies make no difference!  From what I’ve seen with some of the modern cloth nappies, they are incredibly absorbing too…

Yes, I use disposable nappies.

Aparently mother’s these days are also lazy, ...

School Lunches

There are so many articles in magazines, features on TV, and almost everywhere I look telling me all about how to make school lunches exciting.

Well, my son has the same thing every day - this morning he chucked a tantrum because I gave him rice snacks instead of rice chips!  And we’d run out of lunch meat, so it was jam instead…  Basically he has a sandwich with either meat or jam, some fruit (oh, we ...

Join The Club

At last, there is a club for all of us Bad Mummy’s.  The Bad Mother’s Club is now available for pre registration, and will be officially launched on Mum’s Night Out.

It used to be that if a Mother even thought of doing something for herself, she was considered "bad".

Now we know that for Mother’s to  be their best - as Mums, as friends, as wives, as employees or business women and everything ...

Giving Birth

OK, every Mum has done it - give birth, I mean.  Whether it’s a home birth, hospital birth, c-section, "natural" birth (aka vaginal birth), pain relief or not, we have all done it, and some of us more than once.

I probably shouldn’t be amazed, but I am, but there is so much debate over which is better, and if you haven’t given birth that way (whatever it is), then you are a Bad Mummy.

Well, as ...

Water restrictions

Water restrictions are in place just about everywhere in Australian (if I’m wrong, please let me know…).

I am a water waster.  I have a shower that is longer than 3 minutes.  If you are a Mum with small children, then you know that you need a longer shower as it is often the only Me Time you will get!  I know some days that’s what it’s like here.  My showers are sacred, and usually last ...

Bad Mother’s of the World Unite!

It seems that everyone is a bad mother, according to ‘experts’.  Whether you are a working mother, stay at home Mum, work at home Mum, if you use cloth nappies or disposables, whether you breastfeed or bottle feed, there is always someone out there to tell you that you are wrong.

Bad Mother’s of the World Unite!  The best thing you can do for your kids is to look after yourself and do what is best ...
